About the Rainbow Heart Foundation
The Rainbow Heart Foundation was born from the initiative Regnbågsblod and strives for a Sweden free from structural discrimination and all forms of inequality for LGBTQ+ people. We challenge prejudice and stigmatization through knowledge and facts based on a strong belief in the equal value of all people. Here you'll find some frequently asked questions about us and our work.

What we do
The second a minority's voice falls silent, its freedom and rights are at stake
The Rainbow Heart Foundation conducts continuous fundraising aimed at the public, companies and private and public funds, foundations and organizations.
The foundation's funds are used to elucidate health care issues from an LGBTQ+ perspective with the purpose of promoting research, dissemination of knowledge and opinion formation that help protect and improve the living conditions of LGBTQ+ people.
All work is run and funded based on the principle of equal value of all people and must not promote initiatives or activities that can in any way be considered to violate human rights, especially from an LGBTQ+ perspective.
Supporting Research
More and improved knowledge
Both authorities and organizations confirm that there is a lack of knowledge about health care issues from an LGBTQ+ perspective. Far too little resources are directed at work to increase knowledge in this area and thus improve the situation of LGBTQ+ people in society. Our main purpose is to change this by distributing support and grants to research projects with an LGBT perspective. In this way, we help improve the health and living conditions of LGBTQ+ people.
Spreading Knowledge
Lack of knowledge is defeated with knowledge
Too often ignorance is hidden behind prejudice and discrimination. We therefore support organizations and businesses that aim to increase knowledge and awareness of LGBTQ + people, our history and our, most often very vulnerable, life situation around the world.
Advocacy and influence
LGBTQ on the political agenda
Too often, LGBTQ+ perspectives are lacking in the social debate. Our situation and relevant issues are therefore down-prioritized or completely lacking in legislation and the exercise of authority. We therefore finance projects aimed at forming opinion and influencing social issues and decision-making with clear support for the living conditions for LGBTQ+ people, especially in Sweden.

Frequently asked questions about the foundation and our work
Here you will find answers to some common questions about the foundation and our operations
How will you use the foundation's funds?
The foundation's funds will be used to elucidate health care issues from an LGBTQ+ perspective with the purpose of promoting research, spreading knowledge and advocacy that helps protect and improve the living conditions of LGBTQ+ people.
All fundraising and work is based on the principle of the equal value of all people and must not promote initiatives or activities that can in any way be considered to violate human rights, especially from an LGBTQ+ perspective.
Can I trust that my money is spent on good and the right things?
All funds must be used for projects and activities that contribute to the foundation's purpose and are in line with our core values. We believe it is central for the operations to be conducted with full transparency and therefore base all accounting on the principles of Svensk Insamlingskontroll. If you contribute to the foundation, it should be fully possible to gain insight into and understand how the grant has come in handy.
The foundation intends to conduct long-term fundraising through a 90-account and be responsible under Svensk insamlingskontroll.
How do I apply for a grant from the foundation for my project?
Our goal is to register the foundation with the County Administrative Board in 2021 and we are currently working to raise funds for the founding.
In order to ensure the foundation's long-term survival, we have a return horizon of about 10 years initially, with the goal of then managing SEK 8-10 million. It is difficult to give any concrete guidelines on when we can start financing projects and activities but will then open for application via the website and other relevant platforms. The intention is that applications should be assessed by an expert council with relevant knowledge in health issues from an LGBTQ+ perspective.
